You will surely agree if we tell you that being able to work remotely is a great advantage, but sometimes it is difficult to do so from home, managing to stay focused and, above all, not mixing work with our personal life.
If that is your case, don't worry, in this article you will be able to find some suggestions to improve your teleworking routine and make it worthwhile.
We will explain how to optimize your time with some simple strategies that work, and we will tell you why a coworking is an effective ally to achieve this.
Teleworking, the task of maintaining balance
According to a survey recently published in InfoJobs, today 1 in 4 employees works remotely and faced with the obligation to return to a 100% face-to-face model, 39% say they would look for another job where teleworking was an option.
Of course, not everyone has the possibility of teleworking, however, in those areas or professions that allow it, several factors must be considered so that this benefit does not become an obstacle in the long term.
In general, those who do not have this option see it as a great privilege. Being able to work from home, avoiding commuting time and being able to be with family are some of the highlights.
However, those who can do so often feel the need to get out of the house, breathe fresh air and connect with other professionals.
That is why the hybrid modality has gained relevance today and is now preferred by many; combining some days of work at home and others in the office is a way to maintain that balance that is so difficult for us sometimes.
How to optimize your time if you work remotely?
You probably already know many of the suggestions we are going to make, but in addition to knowing them, the question is, are you putting them into practice?
In this short list you will be able to identify those strategies that you already knew but are not yet applying, or incorporate those that you do not yet know.
- Plan your days and set priorities. It is best to make a to-do list that will help you have a clear idea of what you need to do.
- Practice stress management habits like deep breathing. Take short breaks, stand up and stretch your legs. Exercise and walking around will help prevent fatigue.
- Learn to set realistic and achievable goals. This will help you stay motivated and avoid getting frustrated along the way.
- Explore time management apps, starting with the queen of tools like Google Calendar to organize your schedule and not forget anything, to a very simple format like simple sticky notes.
- Eliminate distractions, especially try to disconnect from your phone and find a quiet environment to work without interruptions.
- Set boundaries, separating work from free time, remember that rest is important, a common case that you should avoid is eating at your desk. Learn to say no and regulate the amount of overtime.
You can also adopt some of the most common and effective time management techniques.
Although we shared it in another of our articles, it is always good to keep them in mind, that is why we share with you 2 of the most popular ones.

Techniques to manage time and improve productivity
Pomodoro technique: It is ideal for when you have many tasks to complete, but you find it difficult to concentrate and complete them.
It can be applied by anyone who wants and needs to manage their time efficiently.
It is a very effective technique for:
- Make better use of your time by doing more things and thus optimising your performance.
- Avoid distractions and interruptions.
- Better estimate the time you need for certain tasks and plan when to start each one.
What does the technique involve? It involves alternating between work and rest sessions.
The idea is to focus on one task for a period of 25 minutes until it comes to an end. When that time is up (called a pomodoro) you can record it as finished and take a 5-minute break. Finally, when you complete 4 pomodoros you can take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.
While it is versatile, its good application will depend on how you work and the type of work you are doing.
The technique has some simple rules, such as once you start a pomodoro you cannot interrupt it, so if this happens you will have to stop the timer and start again. Another point to keep in mind is that if you have several tasks that take less than 25 minutes you can combine them within the same pomodoro.
Time blocking technique
As its name suggests, this technique consists of organizing your week into blocks of time, planning each moment of your day, to increase your productivity. It is interesting to be able to identify where you really spend your time.
Time blocks for each task are visually marked on the calendar and similar tasks are grouped into a single time block.
